She’s finally out

Thursday, October 27th, 2005

And, OK, Sheryl Swoopes did it first, but now Harriet Miers has thrown in the towel, accepting she is inadequate as a Supreme Court nominee. In the meantime, Plamegate is about to be brought to a head… In the Pink Texas reports:

“The charges are expected to be announced on Friday. I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I’m going to get much sleep tonight.

In a press briefing yesterday, Scott McClellan was asked about the investigation.

We’re focusing on what the American people care most about, and that is winning the war on terrorism, succeeding in Iraq, addressing high energy prices and helping the people in the Gulf Coast region recover and rebuild.”

Are you KIDDING?! Rove is about to get taken down. Screw the high energy prices.

These are interesting times, indeed.

Wilma approaching

Nothing funny about the real storm, breaking all kinds of records we’d much rather keep untouched. But damn it, enough with the disasters! (Wilma image nabbed from The Wine Commonsewer.)

CNN reports that Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, a former top aide to Colin Powell, confessed that his involvement in the presentation to the U.N. on Iraq’s “Weapons of Mass Destruction” was the lowest point of his life.

The colonel reportedly also accused President Bush of “cowboyism:”

U.S. foreign policy is being made in secret by a small “cabal” of powerful people like Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, a former top Bush administration official charged yesterday.

Lawrence Wilkerson, a retired U.S. Army colonel who was chief of staff for Secretary of State Colin Powell until they left office in January, unleashed possibly the broadest attack on the Bush administration from one of its own since former Counter Terrorism Chief Richard Clarke last year.

You won’t have Dick Cheney to kick around any more?

US News and World Report says that rumors are flying in Washington that Vice President Richard Bruce Cheney may resign because he was closely involved in the discussions with his chief of staff Irving Lewis Libby and with Bush adviser Karl Rove on the decision to out covert CIA operative Valerie Plame Wilson to the press.
